Set Your Table With Flair--Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

Wow!  That is a long title!  No, I am not getting married......did that...21 years ago, this month!  :)
Hello, friends!  Thank you for stopping in to visit today!  Mother's Day is a wink away, so today I am sharing a mock setting for tea or brunch as inspiration for this Sunday's festivities.  I hope you enjoy the post!

I began the setting in my favorite corner of the garden, with a large planter of flowers set catty-corner at the end of the table.

I love the detail of this tablecloth, with its whimsical tea kettles and plates of blue, white, and soft grey.

Uncomplicated white plates,

delicate lace-edged napkins folded to show their detail, and dainty pastry forks

were followed by teacups and saucers

of very fine bone china.  I love the feel of these in my hands.....they are so delicate; almost paper-thin!

My antique tea kettle

paired with a creamer and sugar in simple white complete the tea service.

Keeping the urn at the very end of the table,

and setting this table with a few simple flowers with no centerpiece, enhances the ability to converse with loved ones.

Brunch for me isn't complete without something savory and something sweet.  For brunch, quiche and soufflé are among my favorites!

These savory spinach and sausage quiches are so easy to make, and tasty, too!  To view the recipe, please visit the post on my blog Parsimonious Pabulum by clicking here.

My something borrowed for today's post comes from the pages of Roger Verge's Entertaining in the French Style.  For my soufflés, I modified his recipe.  Also: it is a very old publication, but I love it anyway!

For the perfect finisher, handmade chocolates in pretty shapes,

served in a sweet little transferware dish.

Completed tablescape.

Closeups of the setting.

A few more shots.

Wishing you a beautiful and wonderful Mother's Day!
