Little April Showers and A Few of My Favorite Things

Drip, Drip, Drop Little April Shower…

Hello, friends, thank you for visiting me today!  Do you remember that little tune from Disney's Bambi?  It certainly applies to today in the neck of our woods.  It's very rainy!  We are in the middle of a drought so the rain is a welcome sight, but it can be dark and gloomy to a California-born sunshine-lover like myself.   On days like these, I surround myself with my loved ones and a few of my favorite things.

Beautiful, fragrant roses....

my favorite color combination of blue and white depicted in a pretty pattern on a lovely pot,

antique lace-edged linen in soft Paris grey,

a sweet teatime in antique silver

good words

and good sounds.

I also love to take this kind of day to reflect.

Right now I'm just slightly obsessed with Tori Amos' album Night of Hunters, her first album released on a classical label.  I've been a fan of hers for years, but just recently gave this one a listen...and it is fantastic.  Pairing her beautiful voice and piano with orchestra-caliber strings and woodwinds, all arranged alongside the works of Satie, Chopin, Debussy, Shubert, among others, is like heaven to me.  I'm only sorry I didn't grab it sooner when it was released back in 2011!  I just had to gush about it a bit!  If you're a music appreciator, I think you'll enjoy it (unless you're a purist, ha).

I'm looking forward to trying out a new product, Maison Blanche Paint.  I recently visited the local antique where I previously purchased my Annie Sloan, and they have decided to carry Maison Blanche instead.  The label states there is little to no prep work needed.  There are mixed reviews online, so we will see....

How do you keep things cheerful on a rainy day?

Until next time......

  1. Such a nice display of your favorite things! Beautiful silver teapot...I don't have any large silver pieces but would love to have a teapot. It's such a statement piece. My favorite thing is the white sign and I am surprised that it's from Michael's! It's great how you find your treasures in such a wide variety of stores. (I like how your lists at the ends of posts.) Enjoy the week despite the rain. ~Nora

  4. Your blue and white pot of roses is beautiful - very striking! I agree that a rainy day forces us to stay inside where we can absorb the beauty of music playing in the background while watching the rain. A blessed day it is!
