Hello, all! I hope all is well with you and yours! Valentine's Day is a short moment away, and this year I truly wanted to revel in an aesthetic that is light and fun...or one that is full of whimsy and levity. I couldn't think of anything better than an Alice in Wonderland theme! The book authored by Lewis Carroll was one I read often in my youth, and the Disney adaptation remains my most favorite from their studio. This tablescape captures the idiosyncratic nature of Carroll's world, with a little nod to the film I have enjoyed for years. Several layers went into this table, so please bear with me as there are a lot of photos. I hope you enjoy!
I chose my little sun porch in the garden as a backdrop. To begin the setting, I started with a topper in simple black.
I utilized two thin runners and combined them to make a larger runner. I loved this harlequin pattern!
The colors I chose are similar and pay homage to the darling blue and white pinafore Alice wears.

Down the length of the table, a secondary grass runner was placed, indicative of the earthly world that all matter of critters inhabit in the delightful tale.
Closer look.
"I'm late, I'm late...I'm late, I'm late, I'm late..." Oodles of clock placards were placed next.

Before continuing to work on the table, I added a red foil heart and two oversized aces of hearts cards to the backdrop over my garden bench for an additional element of whimsy.
Plates with clock faces and saucers of blue and white were added next. I wanted to portray a loose, sort of all-over-the-place sentiment for this setting, so there is no specific order or placement. Akin to Alice's Wonderland, rules do not apply!! I set two of each of the clock plate patterns, and set a blue and white checkered saucer for each.
There is a gold-striped face,
a clock with military hours,
a black-faced clock,
and a clock with Roman Numerals.

For the floral arrangement, I added two little moss teacup planters in different sizes at each side of the table.
I filled each with bushels of red roses and red peonies.
Closer peek. I love these!
Petal detail. Not bad for faux!

Next, I added giant mushrooms (toadstools?) and blue and white teacups galore.

Teapots (none of whom match) and additional cups with and without saucers were added here and there to indicate that anyone can pull up a chair and join for tea!
Cup and plate detail. Such pretty and delicate gilding!
An electric tea kettle in blue and a jumbly-tumbly cup play nicely at the setting.
I love the vintage design of this kettle.
This cup's design features a depiction of the original illustration of Carroll's White Rabbit.
Thirsty? Please do as indicated and help yourself! ;)
An inquisitive Alice looks on.
This topsy-turvy design pays homage to the Disney adaptation.
A teapot in checks and a striped cup and saucer play nicely with the other elements.
Closer detail. Teapot.

Cup.
A jaunty pot in white joins.
Closeup.
If tea is not your forte and you opt for cafe, I have some sweet syrups capped off madly. ;)
Each selection of syrup is corked with an adorable Mad Hatter top hat. They are mini top hats I have outfitted with either a tiny king or queen of hearts card and each with a random card in tandem.
Finally, I set a charming tiered bunny plate
laden with queenly yummies.
Each has been adorned with directions. Again, please help yourself! Just do not let the queen know I have frosted her roses red, 😅😂!

Completed tablescape.
Several more shots.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Until next we meet,
