O Tannenbaum 2014--A Simple Christmas Tree

Hello, friends!  Thank you so much for stopping by my blog!

The big day is only ten short days away....I think it's high time to finish up decorating for the festivities!  Today, I am sharing my very simple Christmas tree décor.  A little while ago, I decided this year I wanted the décor in the house to be reminiscent of a lodge or something that you would see in a quaint little Scandinavian town.  I kept that notion in mind as I trimmed the tree this year.  Although I usually love over-the-top and opulent, this year, I am keeping things pared down and simple.  I hope you enjoy the post.

I began with a pre-lit tree,

and draped it with sparkly ribbon with a snowflake motif.

Shown here.

The ornaments I chose this year are also simple; there are fabric-covered snowflakes,

little trees and stars made from cable-knit....love these!   They remind me of sweaters!  :)

For some sparkle and charm, I also added bells with snowflake design in red and silver,

a few simple bulbs,

and my handmade fabric ornaments.  If you would like to view the tutorial to make these ornaments, you may do so on my blog The Crafting Table here.

A simple star dons the top of the tree,

and as a skirt this year, I've chosen to use a cable-knit throw I've found just recently.

I love walking into the house and being welcomed by a lighted tree, don't you?  Albeit a simple one, it still makes me smile.

Shot from the living area looking into the foyer.

A few more shots.

  1. Beautiful! The tree does have a wonderful Scandinavian vibe to it. It looks tall and regal with the clear lights and the almost rustic approach to the decorations. Quite lovely!

  2. I like your tall tree all in white lights! I used a mix of white and coloured lights but next year they will all be white. Merry Christmas and thanks for stopping by.

    Blessings,

  3. Nice tree! Wowza! It's tall!!! I like the simplicity of it. Who says you have to load a tree down for it to be pretty? It's sometimes kind of like a lady wearing too much makeup...less is more much of the time!

Your house is pretty, too! This is the first time I've seen glimpses of other rooms, and it's gorgeou!

Enjoy that tree and all of what the Christmas season brings!

    1. Thank you, Alycia! Yes, she's a big girl, I think like 10 1/2 feet! No wonder I went simple this year (winks), come Christmas Eve, we'll likely add all of our other family-made and kiddo-made traditional ornaments too. Thank you for the compliment! Happy holidays, my friend!
