My Apologies....

Thank you for stopping by today.  The last couple of days have been tough, as we lost a dear friend of ours to a sudden heart attack.  This man, the father of my hubby's best friend growing up, was one of the kindest, sweetest people I have ever met in my entire life, and it is no exaggeration.  He also walked me down the aisle when I married 21 years ago.  You will be dearly missed, my friend.  Juventino, Muchas bendiciones, pueden ustedes estar con Dios.

Set Your Table With Flair--Masculine Yet Elegant Nautical For Father's Day

Hello, friends!  Thank you so kindly for stopping in to visit me today!  I hope everyone is enjoying the Summer thus far.  We are, save for the drought still prevalent here in California...hoping for an end to it soon!

I have always been a fan of waterways....maybe because we went to the beach often as I grew up.  Nevertheless, I wanted to combine subtle elements of nautical nuances for this Father's Day table.  Father's Day is just a few short days away, so I wanted to share an inspirational setting fit for the occasion.  I hope you enjoy the post!

I began the setting on a crisp hemstitched cloth in vibrant white.  For the setting, elements of white, gold, and navy were utilized.

Navy-edged placemats were placed with navy chargers

white plates,

and clock plates with gold detail.

I love these plates,

they remind me somewhat of those large compasses you might see on a very old vessel.

Crisp whites held by brassy rings sit perfectly beside the plate.

Knots of tied rope at the top of each place setting

hold flatware of gold.

A mug for coffee or tea,

combines with a pitcher for pouring.

A preppy creamer and sugar

are the perfect compliment to the mugs and pitcher.

A small handwritten note on the other side of the plate lets dad know how much you appreciate him.  ;)

No elaborate centerpiece,

but a small boxwood

handsomely dressed in navy ribbon

completes the setting.

Set Your Table With Flair--A Small Spot For Tea

Hello, sweet friends!  I'd love to have you join me for tea today.

A quiet little spot.

A stout kettle with ornate detail.

Sweet little demitasse cups usually for espresso are perfection for dainty sips between friends.

I love the pretty scalloped detail of the cups, creamer, and sugar!

Creamer

Lidded sugar

A simple floral topper.  A pretty crochet throw just in case it becomes chilly.

In this post earlier in the week, I shared that my trees have become lush and full.  An antique champagne urn makes for a beautiful vessel in which to place fresh clippings.

Fragrant, delicate little blossoms....

add to the table's charm.

A good read with beautiful photographs is what I enjoy most.  Vogue Wedding's Brides, Dresses, and Designers not only makes a great way to pass the time in solitude, but if you are a romantic like me, it would make for wonderful conversation as well!  I am a bit obsessed with the romance of weddings, if you are unaware....so much so that I write a wedding blog.  My wedding blog The Bride Ideal can be found here.

This phenomenal publication, which is fore-worded by the wedding gown doyenne herself, Vera Wang, chronicles the fabulous, iconic, and memorable weddings of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Edward, Lady Diana and Prince Charles, Catherine Middleton and Prince William, Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III, Jacqueline Bouvier and John F. Kennedy, Lauren Bush and David Lauren, Aerin Lauder and Eric Zinterhofer, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, just to name a minuscule few!  Split into sections: The Royal WeddingThe Country WeddingThe Social Wedding, The Model Wedding, Weddings by the Sea, The Vogue Wedding, and an informative Wedding Designer's Guide, it truly is a gem.

A lovely way to pass time,

and lose oneself,

for an hour.....

or more......

in a tiny corner of the garden.
