Sunday, Solitude, Sips, and Satie

Hello, friends....

It is the end of the busy, busy day of a most busy season.  I have begun my winter cleaning ritual, the arduous task of downsizing and donating, tax preparation, and preparing for the coming week's festivities.  Needless to say, it can be a bit cumbersome, as we have a large family.  At the end of a long day, and once my angels from tall to small are tucked away in bed and fast asleep, I treat myself to a little bit of self-indulging solitude.

A fireside reverie

between myself and beautiful prose (or in this case verse),

and the soft, soothing music of Satie.

It is a wonderful way to end the night

and bid a final farewell to the Fall,

for it will be winter soon.

I hope you'll enjoy the sights paired with the sounds of Satie's Gymnopédies and Gnossiennes in the following link.  This is a YouTube video I watch or listen to quite often.  The beauty of the piano combined with wonderful images of nature is sublime.  You might have to be on a PC in order to view, but it is worthwhile.

  1. What a truly lovely respite from the stress, cares and worries of the world.

Your tea time, cozy fire and GORGEOUS enchanting music is pure relaxation.

I feel as though I have just been to a spa. Now where did I put my fluffy white terrycloth robe?!?

    : - )

  2. I am so glad you shared your fireside tea. I am getting really into guessing what brands they are and my first guess on yours was Arthur Woods and my second guess was an Ellgreave. I love it! I have some of those too! I am so glad you jumped right in and shared as I am a little late and was gone to Missouri for 11 days so finally I have the post up.

    1. Isn't that the cutest little teapot? Thank you for hosting and for visiting me, Bernideen!

  3. What a lovely way to end a busy day with a cozy fire, a cup of tea, and beautiful music! Enjoy! Thank you for sharing and have a Happy Thanksgiving this week.

    Autumn blessings,

    1. Thank you so much, Sandi! I hope you have a lovely week as well.

  4. What a lovely fireside tea! I start my Christmas shopping early and usually finish by late November so that I can avoid the crazy crowds at the mall in December. Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. You are way ahead of the game, Margie! Thank you for popping in, and have a wonderful holiday!

  5. I've heard Satie before without knowing who it was. I love piano music, especially peaceful for meditation. I'm glad you shared him. We have a laptop set up with our large screen TV so I can watch this beautiful video, too! You always inspire me!!

    1. So glad! I love piano, too. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  6. You are a girl after my own heart! Tea and a book in front of a cozy fire, heaven! I had to look up Satie. I've heard the music, of course, but didn't know the composer. Beautiful. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

  7. Oh, this is such a charming and comfy way to end a busy day. I am sure it was the perfect way to end your day.

Wishing you and your family a blessed Thanksgiving.

  8. Your fireside tea looks so cozy and inviting. I'd love to be sitting there and listening to the piano music.
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  9. Hi,
Oh how inviting your tea setting looks. What a dear teapot and teacup. I do love relaxing by the fire and having a cup of tea too. Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving! Karen

  10. Looks like a beautiful way to end the day. The music and video is beautiful. Thanks for sharing it. Have a wondereful Thanksgiving Day!

  11. I'm going to brave the crowds and do a little shopping on Friday. I've already purchased a couple of things, but at least I know what gifts I want to give everyone this year. Your beautiful tranquil fireside tea is the setting I want to come home to after shopping. I also like to end my day with tea and a good book. Happy Thanksgiving!

  12. Oh, we all need a little time for ourselves. Especially when we have little ones keeping us busy every day. Your video is beautiful and nothing like sipping tea by a warm and cozy fire! Love your sweet teapot. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

  13. I stop each day around 3pm for afternoon tea and it's always special if I'm in front of the fireplace on a cold and snowy day.
Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving today.

  14. Lovely! It is a rainy day here in TX, so we are enjoying much the same. Have a great holiday weekend.

  15. How cozy this is ! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
