Keeping Up Curb Appeal

Hello, friends!  Thank you so much for stopping by!  It's been a while since I've posted, we have been very busy with our kitchen remodel!

Although we have no intention to sell our little casita, keeping up curb appeal is very important to me.  Every year at either the start of Summer or Spring (whenever it gets hot), I love to get out into my front yard and give it a quick spruce up.  The simplest way to do this is by giving my plants a small trim and changing my mulch.  Here is a snap of before.

Clearly, my planter in the middle is overgrown, has dead fronds from winter, and the mulch is very faded.  Here is a closeup of the mulch. Not a pretty sight.

First, I evened out the two larger plants and trimmed the middle urn using my gardening shears.

Next, I added this mulch.  I've always liked darker mulches, I think they look striking against the colors and green of my plants. Each bag is 2 cubic feet.  To complete this project, I used five bags. Every Summer, Home Depot has a sale, five bags for $10. What a great deal!

I poured the mulch in sporadic places into the bed.

Once all of the bags were emptied, I used my rake to spread out the mulch.

After spreading, I use the flat side of the rake to level out the much evenly.

All finished!  What a difference!
