Mother's Day Blessings

Hello, friends!  Thank you for stopping by!

Typically every year, we try to avoid the crowds by celebrating Mother's Day the Saturday beforehand. We did so again this year.  So, call me nuts, but today I "relaxed" by lovingly polishing my Reed and Barton King Francis punch bowl and cups I received from my wonderful hubby as a gift while watching our favorite Disney films with my brood.  Easy-peasy day today.  Do you have any traditions?

On this day, I also like to reflect and am grateful for my mother, who taught me to have music in my heart, to sing and to laugh, who read to us every night, always wanted the best for us (no Hamburger Helper or Microwave garbage, lol), who was loving but firm.....

and my grandmother, no longer with us, the glue that held our family together, the wisest woman I've ever known, and such a woman of class whom I miss greatly.
This incredible woman, after being married awhile, lost her husband and had five children to fend for.  She went on to start at the bottom of the totem pole, earned her college degree, and subsequently became the supervisor at her position for eighteen years....which was unheard of at the time, especially for a single woman who was part black. I know you look down from heaven grandmama.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!

  1. I know what you mean about the crows, so we really get together with my brother and his wife with mother, but this time they had to travel to Boston for my nephew's graduation from Berkley College of music, so mother and I went for lunch at a hotel and the buffet was fabulous! Hubby didn't care for the plan, lol!
I know, my dear granny is long gone in 1998.
Looks like you had a lovely time! Have a nice week sweetie.

    1. Wow! Congrats on the graduation from Berkely Music, that's wonderful! Sounds like it was a lovely day even if hubby had a pout.
