Sunday, Solitude, Sips, and Satie

Hello, friends....

It is the end of the busy, busy day of a most busy season.  I have begun my winter cleaning ritual, the arduous task of downsizing and donating, tax preparation, and preparing for the coming week's festivities.  Needless to say, it can be a bit cumbersome, as we have a large family.  At the end of a long day, and once my angels from tall to small are tucked away in bed and fast asleep, I treat myself to a little bit of self-indulging solitude.

A fireside reverie

between myself and beautiful prose (or in this case verse),

and the soft, soothing music of Satie.

It is a wonderful way to end the night

and bid a final farewell to the Fall,

for it will be winter soon.

I hope you'll enjoy the sights paired with the sounds of Satie's Gymnopédies and Gnossiennes in the following link.  This is a YouTube video I watch or listen to quite often.  The beauty of the piano combined with wonderful images of nature is sublime.  You might have to be on a PC in order to view, but it is worthwhile.

I feel as though I have just been to a spa. Now where did I put my fluffy white terrycloth robe?!?

  2. I am so glad you shared your fireside tea. I am getting really into guessing what brands they are and my first guess on yours was Arthur Woods and my second guess was an Ellgreave. I love it! I have some of those too! I am so glad you jumped right in and shared as I am a little late and was gone to Missouri for 11 days so finally I have the post up.

  4. What a lovely fireside tea! I start my Christmas shopping early and usually finish by late November so that I can avoid the crazy crowds at the mall in December. Happy Thanksgiving!

  5. I've heard Satie before without knowing who it was. I love piano music, especially peaceful for meditation. I'm glad you shared him. We have a laptop set up with our large screen TV so I can watch this beautiful video, too! You always inspire me!!

  6. You are a girl after my own heart! Tea and a book in front of a cozy fire, heaven! I had to look up Satie. I've heard the music, of course, but didn't know the composer. Beautiful. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

  11. I'm going to brave the crowds and do a little shopping on Friday. I've already purchased a couple of things, but at least I know what gifts I want to give everyone this year. Your beautiful tranquil fireside tea is the setting I want to come home to after shopping. I also like to end my day with tea and a good book. Happy Thanksgiving!
