Blue, White, Toile, And Tempting Topiary

Hello, friends, and thank you so kindly for popping in to spend a few moments with me! Christmas is a whisper away, and I wanted to share the happenings here at the Parsimonious Home.

I don't know why, but I have always loved blue and white together as a color combination.  I remember when I was a youth,  one of the first fragrances and ad campaigns I became enamored with was Navy.  I adored that scent, lol!  There was something so classic about it, and it reminded me of coastal breezes, which, I must say, as a California native, I grew up loving.  Perhaps this was the impetus...?

It could be that I have always equated blue with skies and oceans, and white as sandy beaches...but I digress.

This holiday season, I am once again decorating with this quintessential (at least to me) color palette.  I also decided to incorporate elements of toile and topiaries, which I also quite fancy.   I hope you enjoy!

As per the norm, I have changed out the throw pillows throughout the house, adding some with a navy and white snowflake design,

and some with topiary motifs.

Our tree this year has been outfitted with an abundance of blue and white as well.

Base elements.

Closer look.

Completed tree.

Closeups of some of the details.  I began by lighting the tree with white lights.  Next, I added numerous blue baubles of varying sizes,

pale blue ribbon,

navy blue ribbon,

and miniature Spode Blue Italian pottery pieces galore.

Ginger jar ornament

Teacup and saucer.

Teapot.

Creamer.

Hexagonal vase.

As an accent, I've added a wired ribbon in a floral toile pattern,

cascading down the sides of the tree.

To finish, I added large topper consisting of two enormous Chinoiserie bows.

Onto the table.

This setting began with a creamy white damask tablecloth foundation, silver elements, and lots of blue and white.

Cobalt blue chargers that act as the plate stack starter pair perfectly with cobalt stemware.

A clear glass plate was followed with an embroidered napkin featuring a darling Christmas tree motif, which is held by a Spode Blue Italian Teapot napkin holder.

Silver accents such as flatware,

teacups and saucers,

candlesticks,

a serving dish,

a butter dish,

and tea service

play together quite nicely. Closeup view of the tea service.

Down the center of the table, I have added topiary trees.

I set them on small saucers of blue and white floral

and some I have adorned with bows of  the same toile I have on the tree.

More blue and white is showcased on porcelain Chinoiserie trees dancing down the center of the setting along with blue baubles.

Detail.

I also set out salt and pepper shakers with a blue and white design on each side of the table.  Adorable!  They look like tiny ginger jars.  :)

Finally, for a taste of romantic ambiance, I added white taper candles.

Completed tablescape.

Place setting.

Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays all, from my family to yours!

Until next we meet,

--Y
