Set Your Table With Flair--Holiday Harvest

Hello, friends!  If you have visited my blog before, thank you so much!  If you are new here, thank you and welcome!

It's almost that wonderful time of year for family, friends, and being thankful for all the lovely blessings bestowed upon us!  We truly enjoy Thanksgiving in my home, and I hope you enjoy the post.  

I began this tablescape with a table barren of linen. Next, I made my centerpiece.  These two pieces of thin wood, which I placed right in the center of the table, are actually BBQ smoking planks from the 99¢ store.

Next, I placed a large white pumpkin, small gourds, pumpkins, acorns, pinecones, Indian corn, lady apples, and a pomegranate.

Now, I placed the settings.  I began with a charger, goblet and glass flute.

I placed my plate next. 

Next, I placed a brown saucer.

Next, I placed a napkin and harvest-themed ring,

I love Spode Woodlands for Thanksgiving, so if you're like me, you may want to showcase the plate by omitting the saucer and placing the napkin directly on the plate

One of the most wonderful parts about the holiday season is the emotion the senses evoke!  I just love the sights and smells of the season!  For a lovely home fragrance, may I recommend Ralph Lauren Hayride.  This fragrance epitomizes the scent of the season, and is one of my absolute favorites.  The description on the box reads, "A blend of Autumn squash, nutmeg, and vanilla."  It truly is fantastic.

Set Your Table With Flair--A Rustic Thanksgiving Setting

Hello, and thank you for visiting my blog!

I cannot believe another year has practically flown by and it is again time to plan for annual Thanksgiving festivities!  If your family prefers the simplicity of rustic country charm, I hope you enjoy this post. :)

When I began planning this rustic setting, I considered a very specific color scheme.  Earthy tones indicative of wood like beiges, brown, et cetera, are what I chose to utilize in this theme.

First, I decorated the chairs. I created this simple chair swag adorned with a burlap bow and pinecone.  To view the tutorial, click here.

I chose to leave my table barren of linen, again, because I love the earthiness of its color.  I set brown chargers, stemware, candles, and small goblets first.

Next, I placed my plates.

 I set these small brown saucers next.

Next, I set up a centerpiece. A few years back, I bought this plant hanger.  I love its wicker detail.

I thought it fit perfectly with this theme, so I decided to utilize it as a makeshift cornucopia. I placed it first, and added a large white pumpkin, pinecones, rustic acorn tops, and Indian corn.

Finally, I placed these acorn-ornamented place settings.

These were quite simple.  I used scrapbook paper,

folded down to 3" X 3" size.

Folded them in half.

 I then labeled each and threaded the hook of the acorn ornament through the fold of the paper.

All set!

Festive Fall Wreath DIY

Fall is upon us friends!  I just love the turn of the season and the beautiful colors our world offers this time of year.  It is time for lovely strolls down gorgeous leaf-laden paths, sweaters, and cuddling indoors.   It is also the prefect time to bring out the festive autumnal décor!  Today's post will feature how to make your own fall wreath for less than $15 per wreath.  

My supply list for two wreaths:

Rustic wreaths $5.99 each

Fall foliage  (I had mine from years past, you may likely find some at Walmart)

Ball mum bush $2.50 

3 Fall swags $0.99 each

2 faux fern leaf bunches $0.99 each 

2 sunflower pots $0.99 each

1 faux English Rose bunch $0.99

2 Foam bowl filler gourd décor boxes $3.50 each

Foam acorn bowl filler box $3.00

Craft or wire-cutting tool

First, I added a small hardware piece to each of the larger gourds. The process is the same as my self-made ornaments. These gourds and acorns were purchased at Big Lots from the fall clearance section, so the prices above reflect the 50% off. 

Begin by clipping a paper clip into three pieces.  

Take one of the three u-shaped pieces, and gently push it into your foam ornament. 

Bead a small amount of glue around the paper clip base to ensure no slippage.  Set aside. 

Next, I added foliage to this adorably rustic wreath made of twigs that I found at a local thrift.

After making the greenery foundation, I added the flowers in various spots, weaving the stems through the wreath.  The flowers, swags, and greenery all came from the local 99¢ Store.  

Next, I added the gourds by threading an ornament hook through the hardware I added, and twisting the other end onto a branch of the twig-wreath.  I didn't simply hot-glue them onto the wreath because I was afraid they were too heavy, and over time, would likely fall off.  Adding the hardware ensures they won't budge. 💪

Finally, I hot-glued acorns and pinecones onto the flowers. Here is a closeup of the completed wreath.   I opted not to cover the whole wreath because I wanted to showcase the lovely gnarled branches of the twigs.

Festive Halloween Tree

Hello, friends!  Welcome, and thank you for visiting my blog!

Over the years, my hubby and I sometimes didn't know whether to buy natural or to use our fake tree for the holidays.  Years prior to writing this post, we decided natural is the way to go, so we donated our faux tree.  Booo-Hooo. 

When most folks think of decorating a tree, they most likely think immediately of a Christmas tree.  However, I thought, how fun would it be to have a Halloween tree?  This tutorial is a wonderful way to use that old fake tree you no longer want....so don't toss it out just yet!

You will need:

A fake Christmas tree new or old (Mine was $18 at Hobby Lobby) Waaaaaah  :0)

Black Spray Paint, preferably one with paint + primer. I used this Rustoleum.

Orange or purple miniature lights ($2.75 at Big Lots)
Ornaments with a Halloween theme
Orange Ribbon

First, unfold all the pine branches of your tree.  If your tree is dusty, you may want to wash it and let it dry completely before beginning.

Spray paint your tree.  I did a quick coat, allowed dry time, and did another to ensure even and complete coverage.  Allow tree to dry completely.  I let mine sit overnight.

The painting is complete.  Time to decorate!! 

I decided to stay with the traditional Halloween colors of black and orange.  I decorated the tree with the lights and my DIY ornaments.  To see how to create these ornaments, you may visit the post on my blog The Crafting Table by clicking here.

Finally, I adorned the tree with a ribbon-star topper.  I made the ribbon-star by folding the ribbon inward until it resembled a star (or something like that, haha), then I used another strip of ribbon to attach it to the tree.

Including the ornaments, lights, paint, and cost of the tree, this project cost less than $40 to complete.
